And while the game requires profit to continue, there are ways of doing that that are more and less harmful and upsetting to its players. In a game that is getting harder and harder to enjoy for free to play players, the birthdays were something that could be pointed to as a sign of the game giving back to its loyal players.īut make no mistake, it is profits that matter. The birthday events were a great thing, that meant truly EVERY player could celebrate their favourite character with a UR and UR devilgram, no matter how much money or luck they do or don’t have. Being a fan of OM does not require you to applaud and cheer everything a corporate company does in their pursuit of making ever larger profits. Sadly, this will all be explained away as “but Diavolo gets a whole event!” which he has to share with other people and isn’t the UR of, and “lol, just do more pulls at gacha!!” which shits on people who have bad luck and/or cannot afford to spend loads of money on a UR they thought they’d be able to simply work in game for. It would be very easy to make a UR event that is within the reach of free to play players AND release a UR+ of Diavolo - he is overdue both. It would be very easy to have Diavolo’s celebrations start exactly on October 31st, and have a normal event pop quiz in between his and Satan’s earlier birthday. ![]() It would be very easy to put two birthday events in one month, especially in a month with 31 days when a birthday event lasts 7 days (that leaves space for a whole other event!). The evidence for this is that a) neither Luke or Diavolo have been the star UR of a pop quiz after nearly a year b) Diavolo has the least amount of UR(+) cards of any character c) Solomon was denied a birthday last year as it coincided with the Year One celebrations d) Diavolo repeatedly being written like a privileged jerk, and Barbatos being unused or engaging in very uncool behaviour ( remember the roofies? Or his love of his own privacy while forcing MC to break their own?). However it has become very clear that there was never a plan to make the formerly Undateables into dateable characters. They could have given nicely spaced birthdays to every character, as there are (currently) twelve characters, and twelve months of the year (and two of them are 'twins’ with a shared birthday). The second reason, is more nebulous but perhaps bodes ill for Solomon fans. Simply put, Diavolo does not get a birthday UR that is accessible to all players. Instead of a birthday event focusing only on him as a character, where a UR is accessible for all players without spending extra money, we get an event that he has to share with the other characters, and a UR - albeit a UR+ - reliant on gambling and/or money. ![]() While this was great for Diavolo fans back when he was an Undateable, now that he is Dateable it means he gets a much worse deal than the other characters. As the demon prince, his birthday was stated in canon to be Halloween, and thus the event that falls on Halloween is focused on his birthday. The first is that Diavolo’s birthday was celebrated prior to him becoming a Dateable character - unique amongst the previous undateables. It’s only when you look closely you see that ‘21’ is missing on the two different events on Diavolo’s graphics.Īs for why Diavolo is being treated differently, there are two reasons that come to mind. Note - despite Diavolo and Satan’s birthdays being clearly different (regular pop quiz vs birthday pop quiz raised Chapter A odds vs normal event Nightmare odds), the graphics advertising the two birthdays look pretty identical. No raised odds for his Chapter A UR and SSRs.What we know Diavolo is NOT getting are: Of these, Diavolo has the last one only thus far (though I assume he’ll give the 30 DP on his birthday day but I’ll wait and see). ![]()
